The Hardest Hit: the easiest targets

24 October 2011

A big thank you to everyone affected by Parkinson's who came out on a chilly October morning, as part of the Hardest Hit rallies and marches that took place across the UK on Saturday 22 October 2011.

Claire Bale and James at the Hardest Hit 22nd October 2011The message to government was that people with disabilities and conditions such as Parkinson's are being unfairly targeted by the coalition government's cuts programme.

Around 5,000 people came out at rallies and marches across the UK to show government just how unfair these cuts are, and just under 100 individuals and members of groups across the UK made a visible noise and presence.

Karen Rose, from our Bristol Younger People's Group, was interviewed by the Bristol Evening Post and our Scotland Campaigns Officer, Tanith Muller, was interviewed for BBC Scotland.

Even if you couldn't make the events, there is still lots you can do.

The Welfare Reform Bill, which contains some of the most savage cuts to disability benefits, is at a crucial stage over the next two months.

It's important MPs and the media hear about the concerns so the Hardest Hit have developed templates to help you speak out about the effects of these cuts on people with Parkinson's.
