Good luck to our Swansea Pedal for Parkinson's cyclists

2011 Pedal for Parkinson's - Stirling cyclist Lorraine Evans6 July 2012

On Sunday 8 July, our fantastic team of 111 cyclists will be saddling up as they prepare to take on our 5, 20 and 60-mile Pedal for Parkinson's rides in Swansea.

We want to wish them all the very best and hope they enjoy their day.

If you're feeling inspired to cycle yourself, it's not too late to join our Pedal for Parkinson's team. You can sign up for the ride from 8am near Blackpill Lido, which is the start and finish point of the route. View a map of the course here.

If you're not taking part, come and cheer on our cyclists instead. It gives them a real boost to hear vocal support along the route.

Neath man who has Parkinson's is ready to ride

I want to raise as much as I can to help fund Parkinson's nurses, by taking part in the event.

Nigel Jones, who has Parkinson's

Nigel Jones, 58, from Neath is just 1 of our riders gearing up for the 60-mile ride. Nigel, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's in January this year, explains:

"When I was diagnosed with Parkinson's it was a shock to me, and I now know first-hand how devastating the condition can be.

"I want to raise as much as I can to help fund Parkinson's nurses, by taking part in the event. I'm also looking forward to meeting like-minded people who share a common cause."

Paul Jackson-Clark, our Fundraising Director, said:

"Taking part in a cycling event is a fantastic and fun way to raise vital funds to support our work. I'd like to wish all of our dedicated cyclists the best of luck and hope that the elements - and their saddles - are kind to them."

All funds raised will go towards funding our specialist Parkinson's nurses.
