Free training opportunity for health and social care staff in Scotland

19 July 2012

The programme will enable participants to develop a solid understanding of Parkinson's, the impact the condition has on individuals and help them to supporting those with the condition to manage it.

We have places available for up to 4 health and social care organisations – such as residential care homes – to join an exciting pilot training scheme to deliver better care for people with Parkinson's.

Parkinson's UK have developed the training programme, which is suitable for all staff working in health and social care in Scotland, and we are looking for people to take part in the free of charge pilot.

How does it work?

Parkinson's UK will train facilitators from health and social care organisations based in Scotland, who will then be able to deliver the training to members of staff where they work.

Each facilitator will receive 2 days training from Parkinson's UK, a step-by-step guide to delivering the training to their colleagues and a resource book and online access to additional resources.

The programme will enable participants to develop a solid understanding of Parkinson's, the impact the condition has on individuals and help them to supporting those with the condition to manage it.

How to apply

As this is a pilot, the training is only available to organisations based in Scotland and registration is open until the beginning of September 2012.

If the pilot is successful, we hope it will be available in areas across the UK in 2013.
