The stars shone at our Christmas Concert
13 December 2011
Stars from TV, film and the music world entertained a
1,000-strong audience at our Christmas Concert in London on Friday
9 December.
Our annual concert - which is in its 31st year - was held at
Central Hall in Westminster.
Ticket holders travelled from all over the UK to see Britain's
Got Talent winner and opera star Paul Potts.
The evening was hosted by BBC presenter Jane Hill, with readings
from TV presenter Michael Aspel and our president Jane Asher.
What a wonderful world
The audience was treated to a performance of the classic Louis
Armstrong song 'What a Wonderful World' by Paul Potts and Sing for
Joy, a choir for people with Parkinson's, their friends and carers.
Michael Aspel read an animated extract from the book 'The Other
Side of the Dale' by Gervase Phinn, and Jane Asher read the poem
'Advent 1955' by John Betjeman.
A big thank you
Clare Chater, our Head of Events, said: "I'd like to say a big
thank you to everyone who supported us by attending our Christmas
Concert.
"The funds raised from the concert will enable us to continue
with our vital work to find a cure, and help improve the lives of the
120,000 people in the UK who are living with Parkinson's."
