2010 Budget response: Investment in Parkinson's will save more
24 March 2010
In his Budget statement today, Chancellor Alistair Darling
re-emphasised the need for public sector 'efficiencies'.
Our manifesto, 3 pledges for Parkinson's, shows that failing to invest in good Parkinson's services will cost the Government more in the long run.
Steve Ford, Chief Executive
In light of this, we want the Government to understand that
increasing productivity isn't always achieved by cuts. Investing in
health and social services will save money in the long run.
Our General Election manifesto, 3 pledges
for Parkinson's shows that failing to invest in good
Parkinson's services will cost the Government more.
Fair access to the right health and social care
Steve Ford, our Chief Executive comments:
"Parkinson's is a complex and fluctuating condition.
"People with Parkinson's rely on a range of health and social
care services to manage their symptoms.
"The NHS and social services can save around £56million by
offering the right support through Parkinson's nurses and
therapists and avoiding unplanned hospital stays or increased
social care support.
"We want to see fair access to the right health and social care
for people with Parkinson's.
"We hope the Government can see that these issues can make
financial sense."
