Our Information Standard policy statement
The policy statement below outlines our commitment to
The Information Standard scheme for
health and social care information.
Policy statement
Parkinson's UK is committed to providing information and support
to all people affected by Parkinson's.
This includes:
- people with Parkinson's of all ages, gender, sexuality, and
ethnic, social and economic backgrounds
- people with Parkinson's who are at different stages of the
condition (newly diagnosed, advanced, etc)
- families of people with Parkinson's, including children
- carers of people with Parkinson's
- friends and associates of people with Parkinson's
We aim to produce the highest quality information and follow
strict guidelines to ensure standards are maintained. These
guidelines are set out in our 'Information production process' and
associated documents.
We will adopt the standard for information production set out in
'The Information Standard: requirements for applicants', and make
sure that all the information we produce within the scope (and as
much as possible outside the scope) meets the criteria set out in
the standard.
Our aim is to:
- provide clear, accessible information for everyone affected by
Parkinson's
- give people with Parkinson's all the information they need to
make informed decisions and manage their condition to achieve the
best possible outcome
- assure people with Parkinson's, their families, friends and
carers, as well as health and social care professionals, that our
information is evidence-based
- enhance our reputation as a reliable and authoritative source
of Parkinson's information
- ensure content is up to date and evidence-based, and is in line
with current practice guidelines, through regular reviews and
updates
- maintain and improve our information production system and the
quality of our health and social care information
We will ensure that all staff involved in producing and updating
information adhere to these guidelines by following clear
information production processes. This will be supported by a
programme of communication, training and self-audit.
All staff who work on resources within the scope sign a copy of
this policy statement to show that they acknowledge its content and
implications.
The Information Standard is consistent with our brand values - that the way we communicate is
short, simple, bold, bright and human. And we have a programme of
activity to embed those into everything we do.
Our commitment to the Standard has the full support of Parkinson's UK's Chief Executive and directors
and Board of Trustees. Responsibility
for making sure that the charity complies with the standards lies
with the Director of Policy, Campaigns and Information.
