Rob Deering

Comedian Rob Deering is a keen marathon runner and Parkinson's UK Champion of Running. Inspired by his father who has Parkinson's, Rob takes part in a number of running events for us every year.

Rob has been a supporter of Parkinson's UK since 2007. His father has Parkinson's and encouraged Rob to get involved. Since then he has run marathons, featured on quiz shows, and set up a series of comedy nights to support our work.

Support for Parkinson's UK

In 2007 he won £24,000 for the charity during a special comedians' edition of the Weakest Link, and he also won Celebrity Mastermind in 2014.

Rob is the brains behind Shake with Laughter, a series of comedy nights around the country which is now in its sixth successful year. He also performed for us at the Royal Albert Hall in Symfunny No.2 last year.

Rob is an avid runner and has run in various events for us, including the Virgin Money London Marathon six times.

Rob says:

"I started running to get fit, but found that doing it for charity seemed more worthwhile. My dad has been living with Parkinson's for more than 15 years and is now not well enough to come to my gigs. He still inspires me in everything I do, from running, comedy and quizzes, to raising awareness and funds for Parkinson's UK.

"A special moment was seeing my dad supporting me at the end of the London Marathon in 2011. I am hugely proud to be Parkinson's UK's Champion of Running. I find running meditative and cleansing. If you feel down about something then it's hard to feel the same after a good run!"

Rob will be taking on his 10th marathon at the Virgin London Marathon in April 2018 and is very close to raising an amazing £100,000 for Parkinson's UK over the last 10 years.
